More bad news for Swifties: Ticketmaster cancels Friday on-sale for Taylor’s Eras tour
UPDATE: Thursday, April 27, 3:50pm: Swift is not taking any chances with these new tickets. As The AV Club reports, she’s just told her fans to go ahead and buy her remaining on-sale tickets. Her rep tells us, “We’re very confident that this show will sell out. There are sold out show dates available now for all the dates on Taylor’s upcoming North American tour.”
Swift has spent the last two weeks touring in North America in preparation for a tour that goes through May 4. We’ve also mentioned that she’s considering dropping the date in Austin; now, Swift tells fans that it may be cancelled. Speaking on her site, Swift says, “We are in the early evaluation process on a possible date cancellation. We are looking at ways to keep this show for our current tour dates.”
The official announcement reads, “Austin City Limits Music Festival has been postponed. We regret to announce that we are canceling all remaining 2018 dates on Taylor’s upcoming tour. Our hearts go out to all those fans who made this possible. For those who have not made travel arrangements or have not been accepted to the dates, we are extending our apologies. This is an incredibly difficult decision to make. Our team is in active discussion with our local promoter, Equity Books, and our national promoter, Live Nation, to find an appropriate time for us to reschedule.”
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 19, 11:35pm: Today, Swift unveiled her plans for the rest of the tour in an exclusive interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. We’ve embedded the video at the bottom of this story.
Last week, we reported that Swift was thinking of cancelling North American dates this summer. Now, she tells fans that she has indeed put those dates back on the calendar. The singer says she has “some other great places, and I’m excited to announce them in the next couple of days as we continue to build for this upcoming tour.”
“It was just an amazing run of dates,” Swift tells Australian newspaper The Herald. “I had a wonderful time, I really enjoyed every single night, and it’s a very exciting way to start a tour because I was really looking forward to coming out and having fun.”
